TIME MEASURE

1.60 Lunar years constitute one cycle.Fresh energy rises starting of the 60 year period and it diminishes at the end of 60th year.
We are in the31st lunar year in 2018 called Hevilambi, Next it will be Villambi the 32nd year.

 2.Ayanas - A year consist of two ayanas 
1.) Uttarayana - The sun moves in a northerly direction starting from Makara /Capricorn. This starts from Jan 14th to july 14th.
11) Dakshinayana - The Sun moves in the southerly direction starting from Kataka or cancer. This starts from July 14th to Jan 14th.

 3.Ruthu / Season - There are six ruthus or season. Each ruthu is for 2 months when the season changes.
They are spring (Vasantha)- March - May - Chaitra , Vaisaka

               Summer( Grishma) - May - July - Jyeshta , Ashadha

             Winter ( Sisira)    - January to March - Magha & Phalguni
                                                                            Masi, Panguni
4. Paksha's of Moon - 
Shukla paksha - Amavasya to full moon - 15teen days when moon increases in size
Krishna paksha - Full moon to Amavasya - 15teen days when moon decreases in size.
